Geometry on the Coordiante Plane

This unit bundles student expectations that address connections between algebra and geometry. Coordinate systems are used for geometric explorations of distance, midpoint, slope, and parallel and perpendicular lines. Geometric conjectures are tested developing an awareness of the connections between algebra and geometry.

Finding Slope

Students will learn how to find the slope of a line given a graph, equation, and two points.

Finding Y-Intercept

Students will learn to find the y intercept given an equation and graph.

Graphing Slope Intercept Form

Students will learn to graph slope intercept form.

Forms of Linear Equations

Student will learn about slope intercept, standard, and point slope form of a linear equations.

Linear Equations - Given Slope and Y-Intercept

Students will learn to write slope intercept and standard form of a linear equation given the slope and y-intercept.

Linear Equations - Given Point and Slope

Students will learn to write slope intercept and standard form of a linear equation given the slope and a point.

Linear Equations - Given Two Points

Students will learn to write slope intercept and standard form of a linear equation given two points.

Midpoint Formula

Students will learn to find the midpoint of a line segment using the midpoint formula.

Distance Formula

Student will learn to find the distance between to points using the distance formula.

Quadratics (General Form)

Students will learn to identify key parts of a quadratic such as: vertex, axis of symmetry, y-intercepts,  and x-intercepts.
